Смерть
В 1531 году 60-летний Коперник удалился от дел. Он сосредоточился на завершении своей книги. Одновременно занимается медицинской практикой (безвозмездно). Верный Ретик постоянно хлопочет о скорейшем издании труда Коперника, но оно продвигается медленно. Опасаясь, что препятствия окажутся непреодолимыми, Коперник распространил среди друзей краткий конспект своего труда под названием «Малый комментарий» (Commentariolus).
В 1542 году состояние Коперника значительно ухудшилось, наступил паралич правой половины тела. Коперник скончался 24 мая 1543 года в возрасте 70 лет от инсульта. Некоторые биографы утверждают, что автор смог ознакомиться со своим великим творением незадолго до смерти. Но другие доказывают, что это было невозможно, так как последние месяцы жизни Коперник находился в тяжёлой коме.

Наверно попутал его с кем-то С Джордано Бруно например. Самое интересное, что сомневался ведь, но уточнил у народа на работе, все засмеялись и сказали, ну ты даешь, такого элементарного не знаешь, имея ввиду, что действительно Коперник не своей смертью помер.

Кстати, его не только путают с Джордано Бруно, но и делают идиотом, неверно излагая его концепцию. Коперник вовсе не утверждал, что Земля вращается вокруг Солнца. Он утверждал, что они оба вращаются вокруг некой точки, которая равноудалена от них, если учитывать разницу в размерах (что полностью соответствует представлениям современной механики: два тела вращаются вокруг общего центра тяжести). Это единую точку, вокруг которой вращаются все небесные тела, Коперник исчислял, так как считал, что это и есть место, где сосредоточено бытие Бога, который и запустил развёртывание Вселенной.

То есть система Коперника на самом деле не только опередила своё время в научном смысле, но и в теологическом смысле содержит весьма глубокую идею - что есть точка, которая является исходной, из которой идёт разворачивание божественной идеи в материю.

Вывод - не читайте классиков в изложении дураков. Иначе получится как в анекдоте:
