Rubberized shaft how to balance - do I need to make any allowance for the rubber coating? This is the first time we have encountered this, we have only used traditional shafts before. We do our balancing on the basis of a lathe, if it matters.

Sorry, have you been doing all this stuff for a long time? It's just very strange to hear that from people who use balancing equipment in their work. But so, if anything, the work is done in the standard way. Same way you attach the sensors, same way you run a trial balance with a test load, everything is the same. The whole unit is balanced, the rubber is part of it too, it would be strange to write it off.
