When CompuServe Email connected its proprietary e-mail service to allow incoming and outgoing messages to be exchanged with Internet-based e-mail addresses in 1989, it was the first online service to offer Internet connectivity, albeit with limited access. On June 30, CompuServe, a pioneering internet service, unexpectedly concluded its 30-year career.
