The ACSM file extension is best known for being used in one of the Adobe Digital Editions default
Files Expert. Adobe Content Server Message (* .ACSM) files are used to manage and download digital content (mainly ebooks), but can also be used for other digital content. The ACSM file contains all the information to download and activate the digital content that the ACSM file represents. They are also used as a form of digital content certification, such as DRM licenses used for music and video media.
Basically, this format is used as a purchased ticket (key) that allows you to download ebooks. In Digital Editions, you can find the path to your book in the Item Information dialog. Content Server 4 protected eBooks cannot be opened in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, only in Digital Editions.
If you're having trouble opening the file ACSM, in most cases, the only problem is that you don't have the correct application installed. Select one of the programs from the list and install it on your device. The operating system must automatically associate the ACSM file format with the installed program. If not, right-click on the ACSM file and select from the menu"Open with".. Next, select the installed program and check the operation. All ACSM files should now open automatically in the program of your choice.
