You're not as likely to clog the drain or have problems with the vacuum when you are shedding shorter hairs. If I were to hold 100 short hairs and 100 long hairs in both of my hands and asked you which hand held more hair, you'd most likely assume that the hand with the longer hair had more hairs even if this wasn't the case. It's easier to sweep up and dispose of the shorter hair and they don't look as bad on your clothes after they have fallen as longer hairs. For more info:
