Fund administration refers to the performance of various back-office tasks that support an investment fund. These tasks encompass fund accounting, financial reporting, net asset value calculation, capital calls, distributions, investor communications, and other related functions. The investment fund can take various forms such as a traditional mutual fund, hedge fund, private equity fund, venture capital fund, pension fund, unit trust, or other types of pooled investment vehicles. Fund managers frequently decide to contract out part or all of these tasks to outside specialized businesses, like the custodian bank or transfer agent for the fund. Fund administrators are the names of these businesses.
