Hello members,
I wanted to pose an ethical question that's been on my mind lately regarding Overwatch ranked play. As we know, there are services emerging that offer "boosting" - essentially hiring highly skilled players to log into your account and earn progression for you.
This raises some interesting moral dilemmas in my view:
Doesn't boosting undermine the competitive integrity of the ladder if players can simply buy ranks?
Do players using boosting services to unlock cosmetics truly "earn" those rewards?
Can boosting be compared to more clear-cut cheating like aim bots?
My personal view is that boosting, while not technically illegal, goes against the spirit of competitive gaming. Unlocking ranks and rewards you didn't directly work for feels hollow. I also worry it hurts lower ranked players who go against boosted accounts being controlled by more skilled players.
What are your thoughts on services like Overwatch boosting by OverBoost on this site
