Compression Molding: A Versatile Manufacturing Process
Introduction:
Compression molding is a widely used manufacturing technique that produces various plastic or composite parts. Whether you’re creating airplane components or small baby-bottle nozzles, this process offers versatility and efficiency.Get more news about compression moulding machine, you can vist our website!

How It Works:
Create Molds:
Tooling can be produced through machining, die casting, or even 3D printing.
These molds consist of two halves that enclose the charge (raw material).
Prepare the Charge:
Select the material (usually preheated) and determine the proper amount.
Excess material can lead to “flash,” which needs manual removal.
Insert the Charge:
Place the charge in the center of the bottom mold.
Compress and Heat:
Close the top mold, apply pressure, and wait for the piece to form.
Heat can soften the material, aiding production.
Release and Clean:
Remove the finished piece.
Cut off any resin flash around the edges and clean the part.
Comparison with Injection Molding:
Compression Molding:
Molds close around the charge.
Ideal for relatively simple designs and ultra-large basic shapes.
Lower-pressure method, often with lower tooling costs.
Injection Molding:
Charge injected into a closed mold cavity.
Better for complex parts.
Faster cycle time for large production runs.
