The quality of a metal laser cutting machine mainly depends on its cutting quality, because it will affect downstream processes such as welding or painting, and the cutting quality is a direct way to test the quality of equipment. For new customers, they will require proofing first when purchasing equipment. During the proofing process, customers not only pay attention to the cutting speed of the equipment, but also pay more attention to the cutting quality of the sample. So how to judge the cutting quality? What aspects should be paid attention to?
1. Edge quality
When the laser beam hits the metal plate, vertical lines are formed. The deeper the grain, the rougher the section. When the power of the cutting machine matches the thickness of the plate, there will be no streaks or brittle fractures on the cut section. For metal sheets with a thickness of 20mm, cutting with a laser cutting machine is a high-quality, high-efficiency, and low-cost processing method. Since the power of the laser cutting machine is higher, the thickness of the plate is thinner, and the cutting speed is faster, so the purpose of shortening the processing cycle and reducing the cost can be achieved by improving the cutting quality.
2. Cutting width
Generally speaking, the cutting width will not affect the cutting quality. However, the cutting width has a major influence when forming particularly precise contours inside parts. This is because the cutting width determines the minimum inside diameter of the profile. When the thickness of the sheet increases, the cutting width also increases. Therefore, in order to ensure high precision, no matter how large the incision width is, the workpiece in the fiber laser cutting processing area should remain unchanged.
3. Verticality
If the sheet thickness exceeds 10mm, the perpendicularity of the cutting edge is very important. As you move away from the focal point, the laser beam diverges and the kerf widens towards the top or bottom depending on where the focal point is.
4. Deformation
If the cut causes the part to heat up rapidly, it may become warped. This is especially important in finishing machining, since contours and connections are often only a few millimeters wide. Controlling laser power and using short laser pulses can reduce part heating and avoid deformation.
